..............Sigh.........................insurance.............ugh...........................sigh...............................
Our health insurance premiums are going up $200 in January! Seriously?! A whole $200???????? Starting in January we'll be paying about $580 for health insurance. Yep. No joke and no laughing matter. I have no idea why and it's been quite the burden. Lance has been oozing stress from every pore in his body. We have both literally lost hours of sleep over it and we have no idea what to do.
We met with an insurance broker yesterday to see what our options are. The best option yet? Lance should quit his job so we can live off food stamps and medicaid. I think that's the best because we wouldn't have to worry about going hungry or whether we can afford to take Kimball or ourselves to the doctor. Of course that isn't an option. But we seriously don't know what to do.
SO frustrating.................sigh.........................

It sucks huh! We do not have health insurance. Our employer does not offer it. So we just pay everything out of pocket.I have looked into purchasing it but paying $300 dollars a month is ridiculous to me when we go to the doctor maybe once or twice per year. We would be paying way more per year than what we pay at the doctor visit. So to me it is just better to have a savings account that you pay into for insurance.
Granted, if something major were to happen it would be extremely expensive and you probably would not have enough money saved...but that is where you got to decide.
This happened when I had to have my appendix out...no insurance and we did not have the $20,000 to just pay it all up front. But we made arrangements with the hospital and make monthly payments...I never hear from them so I am guessing they are happy with the arrangement. Plus...most hospitals will forgive some of your cost based on income.
In 2014 the income limits will be raised to be able to get some insurance assistance or something (don't know all the details) But don't stress out so much...everything will be ok!! You can also purchase insurance cheaper than 580.00 a month...I was looking last night...you can get a decent plan from 100-300...just depending on what deductible you choose. Of course nothing covers maternity.
Blah...it all sucks. Insurance sucks. So sorry!
Well, guess what? Everyone's insurance premiums are going up because insurance companies have to make up the cost for everything that they are required to cover, thanks to Obamacare. Sorry. We are all in the same boat. It's ridiculous. It sucks to be part of the hard-working middle class. :( If it weren't for our dignity, we would throw in the towel and just live off of medicaid and food stamps, too.
