For My Entertainment

Jerusha came to visit us Monday night since Ma and Pa Cox are infested with some sort of flu bug and we didn't want to take any chances getting Kimball sick. While we played card games I started to feed Kimball but he got a little impatient with me. He started to eat it off his bib instead of the spoon. I'm sure nobody else will find this amusing but its endearing to me.

Land of the Free

I always ask people what they're watching on Netflix because I usually watch an episode of something when I'm feeding Kimball. Lately I've been fixated on America: The Story of Us. It's basically about how America was founded and the history since the British landed on her soil. I'm amazed at how much it follows the same pride cycle as the Book of Mormon. And still today, centuries later, we follow the same pattern.

Today I heard on the Boise news that a classmate of mine from Jerome died in Afghanistan. "The U.S. Department of Defense confirmed Monday that Brown died as a result of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device in the Kandahar province." Dan Brown had 3 month old twins that he was just 23 days away from meeting for the first time. So sad. He was genuine guy, very kind hearted and had an infectious smile. I just feel so sad for his wife and infant twin girls.

It's because of men and women like him all over this great country, who fight for our freedom and liberties. It's the people of America who make America what it is. I'm so thankful for Dan and all of the service men and women. Lately I've been so awe struck at what a great country we live in. (Why didn't I pay attention to this stuff in school?) I don't know why I'm so blessed to live here or why I'm so blessed to raise a family here. I just know how grateful I am to the delegates of congress who declared America independent from Britain 236 years ago. I'm so grateful that as a people we are free from oppression. I'm so grateful to the founding fathers who believed in God.

Trying Solid Foods

We started Kimball on solid foods this week, putting him first in his high chair. But that was a bit too big and since he can't sit up on his own yet, it wasn't going to work too well.

So we moved him to his bumbo (which he loves) and that worked much better for him. At first he didn't really know what to think of it. He hasn't got the hang of opening his mouth and swallowing down very well yet but with some practice he'll get it. Him and I both like the change to our day and he's just so funny to watch. Most of it ends up all down the front of him but that's the fun of it, right?
I love that him and the duck have the same expression, haha.
He definitely needed a bath after his first time, and he loves to cuddle up to his warm daddy after bathing.

Adventures

  • Kimball and I went to Boise last weekend with mom, Christine, Heather, and baby Britney. We shopped and ate and experienced Sub Zero Ice Cream for the first time. It was also craft day weekend and we sewed table runners and celebrated Grandma Watson's 82nd birthday. I'd post a picture of my table runner but I didn't get it done. However, Christine's turned out uber cute!
  • Kimball caught Britney's cold over the weekend and its the first time he's been sick. I know he feels awful and despite that he's still a happy little guy, always smiling. He only eats about 2 oz lately and mornings are the worst. His cough sounds so terrible, that deep burning in his chest kind of terrible. His sinuses are congested but he doesn't have a runny nose. It's gotten into his eyes, they're always red and watery. Poor little baby!
  • I took on the adventure of painting the downstairs bathroom. I've got the ceiling painted. That's it so far. I've put it on hold so I could devote all my time to helping Kimball feel better during his bout of flu. Next week I'll start up again.
  • Spring fever is in full swing! I can't wait for outdoor adventures with Kimball! Take walks to Grandma Cox's house, take walks to visit Daddy at work, walk to the park and have a picnic, walk to the library.....its nice to live in such proximity to important places. I can't wait to work outside in the flower beds and have dessert and evening talks with Lance on the porch. I can't wait to open the doors and windows to hear the birds chirping and feel the crisp spring air!
