Reunion Mementos

This weekend is the Watson family reunion on my Mom's side. From my grandparents down we are totaling around 150-160 people....I think, unless there are more I don't know of. There's usually some sort of memento handed out to the 2nd generation (me and my cousins) to remember the reunion by. I was the lucky one chosen this year to make them, my mom saw this idea while in a fabric store so I gathered my sister in-laws together last weekend to make jam and tags. This is the product, not sure how they turned out because I haven't tasted it yet. I would have made the tags a smidgen cuter, but people are just going to throw them away so why waste more time and energy and resources on it? I hope everyone likes them!

A Little Something For Someone Special

My mother in-law Donna does so much for me. I can't even name everything and often times I forget to thank her or go out of my way to show her that I really do appreciate all that she does for Lance and I. I really wanted to do something special for her to show her that I'm so grateful for everything she does. I thought about making her some jewelry but she doesn't wear tons. I thought about taking her out for ice cream but she's been on a diet. Then I thought of the perfect thing! She LOVES purses and my sister in-law has been crazy busy sewing her little fingers off and I knew Donna would be beyond thrilled to get one of Heather's purses. So I gave her a gift card, we picked out a pattern, enjoyed a loverly hour or so picking out fabric, and ta da! Check out the finished product HERE!!!

Welcome Craft

In April for craft day we made these darling little signs (most said summer or spring or home) with a wreath for the center made of little tissue paper flowers. I feel like my house is always dark and drab so lately I've been into bright, fun colors to spruce things up. My tissue paper flowers didn't turn out right, got squished on the way home from Boise, and just looked like they'd already wilted and died. So here we are two months later and I finally made a trip to the dollar store to pick up three bushes of gerbera daisies. It took two minutes to disassemble the tissue paper mess, poke these bad boys in the wreath, and spray paint the easel to match the color of my lettering. I LOVE how it turned out!!

Blaming and Wafting

We had a little father's day bbq in the backyard of Lance's parents house which was just so loverly despite a chilly breeze. I was talking to Sage (Lance's niece who's 5) who's a little smarty pants but not in a sarcastic way. Seriously, I think she's a genius! I can't remember how we got on the topic but she said something about tooting.
Me: Do you toot?
Sage: Sometimes I do but I blame it on other people or say "excuse me".

Another time in Charleston I was talking to a good friend's daughter, Grace, who's also 5 years old. Again, she said something about tooting that just cracked me up!
Grace: Sometimes I toot but I waft it over to my parents like this (with her arms motioning in that direction).

A Little Story

Last year I planted two lilies, one on each side of my front steps. They each grew to about 1.5 feet and never bloomed. This year, the one on the left side of the front steps has grown taller than me at 5' 1" and continues to grow 3-6" every week. I'm anxious for it to bloom and thought it would do so a few weeks ago but I'm STILL patiently waiting. Everyday when I leave and come home from work I have to stand by it to measure how much it grows. I'm flabbergasted, it has become so TALL!! The one on the right side of the stairs has not mutated and is the same height it was last year at 1.5 feet. When it blooms (I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will!) I will definitely take pictures. By the way, never mind the weeds in the picture! On the other sides of the house the weeds are almost as tall as the lily. I'm never home to weed, not to mention do laundry or cook but it is on my to-do list!
I updated my jewelry blog, go check it out HERE!

Beehives and Ice Cream

I had a little girls night with a few of the beehives in our ward. We had some ice cream and had a blast walking around and being dorks all night long. Oh and those way cute plaid shoes, she bought those as well. Squeal! It was so much fun! Love all these girls, I have the best calling in the world!
Oh yeah, I chopped my hair off about a month ago. 9" and man, it feels good although it's already getting long again.

Memorial Day From the Sky

On Memorial Day a friend in our ward, John, took us up in an airplane for an aerial tour of the Magic Valley. He's belongs to the John Reeder Flying Service club/member/ish.....something like that. I was quite skeptical about going seeing that I don't care for flying and even the smaller commercial planes from Twin to SLC are too bumpy for me, the take off especially gives me a queasy stomach. So when I heard we were going in a little four-seater my nerves hit the roof and even more so when I saw how tiny our plane was. You want me to be 6,000 feet above ground in that little thing?!

Here's before take off, my nerves and stomach were in little knots.

Lance was like a little kid in a candy store, he couldn't wait!!
This is the Magic Valley and you can see the temple right along the canyon. Once we got going I realized this was the smoothest ride I've ever been on, it beat any commercial flight, smoother than butter! I think I might have to hire John as my personal pilot, jk!The Shoshone Falls.
The Perrine Bridge over the Snake River Canyon that Evel Knievel tried to jump in the 1970's.Lots and lots of farmland.
Another shot of the canyon which is about 200 miles long.
