Pettingill Reunion

Karen was hosting the Pettingill reunion this year and chose to do it in AZ. We can't afford to fly us all down and weren't planning on going until Lance discovered an Allegiant voucher to use which expired soon. I tried to get Cora to go with me for a girl's weekend but there was NO WAY she wanted to go on an airplane. So, Ezra and I had a short, sunny, quick getaway for the weekend in AZ.
I had to take a picture of him with Wasi in the airport. Adorable!
Our flight out of Spokane got delayed by a few hours and Ezra was such a trooper! He didn't complain or whine at all, he just worked on his math and word workbooks. Due to the delayed flight, we missed the entire first day of the reunion. Boo!

Saturday was beautiful! It was sunny and a warm 70* which was so refreshing coming from snow. We picnicked in the park, broke the pinata, had family pictures, and played games.

We went to an old goldmining ghost town about 15 minutes from the park. Even though the buildings were really old, it was heavily commercialized. Each building charged a fee to go in them just to look around.
This was a train ride around the ghost town but the train was so loud I didn't get to hear much of the history. The people lived in canvas tents and even had their own post office, school, and church. It was wiped out a few years after being established due to the flash floods.
Sunday morning we went to church, went home to nap, walked along the temple grounds, and had dinner with all of Karen's family at Nick's house. We had such a great time, especially Ezra who became fast friends with Christopher, Casey's son.
Cactus gardens at the temple. The grounds were so beautiful!
